'50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy' Causes Great But Obvious Confusion In America

Baz and his mammy, Nancy, are over the moon after their TV show '50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy' won an an International Emmy for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment, in New York last night.

Come on Ireland!

The pair celebrated with chicken wings in an Irish bar after the show, while Baz stayed up to chat to Ryan Tubridy on RTÉ Radio One this morning about their victory. During the interview, Baz revealed that initially there was a bit of a backlash to the show in the US because, well, because some Americans don't get jokes.

In the States there was a lot of backlash in the beginning because I don’t they have the same understanding of sarcasm or irony that we have, they thought I was actually trying to kill my mother.

Oh dear.

All's well that ends well however as they overcame the early setback to claim the gong last night, with Nancy stealing the show. Baz told Tubs:

She [Nancy] put it very well, she said as soon as they mentioned that 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy was the one that won, she said she didn't remember anything, that it was like floating.

Then we went up onto the stage and said words and spoke to a crowd of very sophisticated television people from all around the world, and she nailed it, I'm just so proud of her to be honest.

A victory for Irish mammies everywhere.
