The record for the youngest ever vote has been recorded in Dublin South West yesterday for the Presidential and marriage equality referendums. According to a tweet from Stephanie Fleming who is counting that constituency, nine-year old Carey from Dublin decided that not being 18 or registered to vote shouldn't stop them getting their preference across.

From the huge travelling involved in getting #hometovote from this youngster getting interested in politics shows that the county is in a good place with the younger generation getting interested in real world issues.
It's great for the Stephanie in the count centre that a note like that can break up the monotony of counting thousands of votes with a smile, and thanks to her for giving all of us a reason to smile.
I'm not crying, it's just been raining on my face...
