British author, Anthony Horowitz, writer of the most recent book in the Bond series, Trigger Mortis who claimed in an interview with the Daily Mail that Idris Elba is "too street" to play James Bond came under fire stating;
Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.
he said, suggesting Adrian Lester as one candidate.
The author sparked such outrage that he quickly took to Twitter to offer an apology on Tuesday, stating that he was mortified that his remarks had caused offence.
I'm really sorry my comments about Idris Elba have caused offence [full statement attached] pic.twitter.com/UD6ouA45Uv

Idris Elba himself then decided to weigh in on the whole scenario, posting this classy Instagram post with a not so subtle dig at Horowitz.
Brilliant Mr. Elba, just brilliant
