I remember when I used to be really big into nostalgia. Looking back at music charts is both emotive with fond memories, , cringe-worthy about what was going on at the time, and scary because man that was TEN YEARS AGO?
A glimpse back into the Irish Music Charts from this day ten years ago is quite informative. Annoying high pitched noises were par for the course for some reason.

10. 1 Thing - Amerie
I had no idea what this song was before the very recognisable first ten seconds. I had thought it was older to be honest.
9. Hate It Or Love It - Game & 50 Cent
Much like Amerie, it took me a while to remember this song. I guess I wasn't "cool" back then. The mid 00's were the age of 50 Cent, but this was his last massive hit.
8. Don't Phunk With My Heart - Black Eyed Peas
Like 50 Cent, the Blacked Eyed Peas dominated the 00's. This song came just after the Let's Get It Started and before other's like Pump It. It was probably their most annoying song, but doesn't come close to annoying compared to others on this chart.
7. Lyla - Oasis
I actually quite like this song. It's one of the more unheralded Oasis songs. Instead of playing "Wonderwall" for the 50th time in a row, maybe give this a go on guitar?
6. Feel Good Inc - Gorillaz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8Qp38qT-xI
The classic example of a song you jam out to when it's on the radio, but would never actively seek out to play, and if it comes on your i-pod, the skip button gets pressed.
5. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani
Remember Gwen Stefani? She was great. How old do you feel when you see that she's 45, and the "Sweet Escape" album was all the way back in 2006. Her return to No Doubt didn't go as well as hoped.
4. Love - Donna & Joe
I may get a lot of backlash after this Eurovision "classic", but the first words out of my mouth after playing this were "Oh Jesus".
3. (Is This The Way To) Amarillo - Tony Christie
Proof that the sun had gone to our heads in 2005. For a good cause I suppose. I am ashamed to admit that this was my ringtone back when that was cool.
2. Axel F - Crazy Frog
It was actively advertised as the most annoying noise at the time and it worked. What the hell was happening in 2005?
1. Lonely - Akon
Akon jumps on the annoying noise bandwagon by ruining what could have been a very powerful song. With an intolerable high pitched noise.
