Why Johnny Depp Could Face Up To 10 Years In Prison

"Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover."

Ah, Australia. The wondrous land where women glow and men plunder. But a poor holiday destination for your Shih Tzu.

Johnny Depp could now face a prison sentence for bringing his dogs into OZ, according to Canberra officials.

The well-being of the actor's dogs has genuinely been at the forefront of many minds in the past fortnight since news emerged that the two mutts, Pistol and Boo, had all but been assigned a death warrant for their illegal entry Down Under.

The canine duo arrived into Brisbane aboard a private jet with Depp and his wife, Amber Heard, but the Pirates of the Caribbean actor failed to follow correct quarantine procedures when introducing his pets to Aussie soil. Depp was ordered to send the dogs back to America before May 16th or they would be put down, and duly obliged.

But following senators' 40-minute grilling of Department of Agriculture officials in the capital yesterday, reports have emerged that Depp - in the country to film a Pirates sequel - could now face up to 10 years in jail or a fine of up to $380,000 for his actions.

Depp touched back down in LA this morning, where Boo and Pistol awaited him on the runway.

There's definitely a “You will always remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow” gag in there somewhere.
