One of the greatest thrills in a primary school child's day was opening their lunch box to see what surprises awaited them thanks to mammy or daddy.
Take a look back at some of the classic lunch box fillers from your youth and remember them fondly.
1. Matching Lunch Box And Flask
An essential part to being one of the cool kids was a matching lunch box and flask, with the flask usually containing some sort of soup that would inevitably burn the mouth off you.
2. Dairylea Lunchables
Opening your lunch box to one of these filled you with joy but looking at them now makes my stomach turn. Plastic sweating so called 'cheese' and 'ham' is not my idea of a nutritious lunch but they gave you the freedom to create whatever combinations you wanted with the crackers so we loved them. To be honest we surely secretly hated the taste of them but suffered anyway for the novelty of them. YUCK
3. Cheesestrings
Another form of plastic cheese that we found extremely entertaining. If you were one of those kids who bit straight into them without peeling away a string at a time, shame on you.
4. Ribena Cartons
We all thought these were great for our teeth but the fact they tasted like you were just drinking flavoured sugar should have told us otherwise.
5. Wagon Wheels
These biscuits with a marshmallow filling and chocolate covering had the potential to be delicious but they always seemed to be stale with a cheap chocolate taste.
6. Pringles Pop Boxes
If you were lucky enough to have pringles in the house these ingenious containers allowed you to bring the perfect snack with you for a lunchtime treat. Limited edition colours were also available and needless to say, highly sought after.
7. Billy Roll
Apparently this was meat, and while that may be questionable, our love for this smiley faced goodness was not.
8. Winders
Available in a range of flavours and even a combination of flavours in some cases, there was a definite art to getting the whole way through a winder without breaking any off. Plus they were clearly state 'fruit winders' so surely they counted towards one of our five a day, right?
9. Babybel
These wheels of joy were yet another cheese loved by Irish school kids. slightly less plastic but only slightly than Cheesestrings and they did have the added fun of peeling off the wax.
10. Frubes
These were the fancier cousin of Petit Filous and suffered violent endings at lunchtime when kids would rip their heads of and suck their guts out. Gruesome.
