Following on the from the news that Sinead O'Connor will sing Conor McGregor in for his fight at UFC 189, another Irish fighter, Cathal Pendred, has confirmed that Irish pop sensations B*Witched will perform his entrance in Las Vegas on Saturday week.
While it may come as surprise to some, Pendred has hinted at his affection for the girl group in the past when he listed his hobbies as MMA, denim, climbing treehouses and making a fool out of Ray D'Arcy.
However it's rumoured B*Witched weren't his first choice, with Pendred quoted as saying:
I had been holding out for Six but they were unavailable so 'C'est la vie' as the French would say.
Jesse Logan, the head of entrances in the UFC, thought of scrapping my entrance all together but I said 'Jesse, hold on. What about B*Witched? And the rest is history.
Pendred is currently 4-0 in the UFC and one would imagine that if he suffers his first defeat on Saturday night (he won't, we hope) at least he can blame it on the weatherman.
This is the latest revelation in what has been a roller-coaster week for the UFC 189 card and Irish MMA in general.
