The comedian and chat show host, who ended his run as host of The Colbert Report and will begin The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in September, travelled to Monroe, Michigan, to host “Only in Monroe,” a local public access cable show.
For those in Ireland unaware, public-access television is a form of non-commercial broadcast where the general public creates the television programming, which is then shown through localised cable TV channels.
Colbert took to Monroe - a town of just 20,000 people - and interviewed Michigan's own Eminem, while exploring the town's history.
Since my last show ended in December, I’ve been itching to host a talk show again, but my new theater’s not ready yet, so I decided to head over to Monroe, Michigan, look around, and give it a Michigander,”
Colbert said, pausing to water a fake plant.
This is the stuff of legend. The full interview with Em begins at 22:00. Just listen to that intro.
