One and two cent coins, we have bad news. Your days are up, your end is nigh and you are likely to see a slow and painful end. Enda Kenny and co are likely to decide at a special 'bring your chairs outside' Cabinet meeting today that there was never any bloody need for these tiny coins that you only meet in the washing machine.
At present it costs 1.65c to mint each one cent coin and 2.07c to mint each two cent coin. As economics go, this is surely a straightforward decision and the impact it may have will surely be much less dramatic than it would have had in the past.
Imagine not being able to buy a choc ice or a supersplit or even a scribbler... who remembers the bloody scribble?
