The Irish Times' sex survey has found that one in four Irish men and one in 20 women masturbate every day.
48% of sexually active lads spank the monkey more than once a week while only 7% say they flog the frog less than once a month. Meanwhile, for females, 27% pat the bunny at least once per week and 32% say they do it more than once a month.
Speaking to the Irish Times, psychotherapist Trish Murphy contends that men and women see masturbation 'to be the solution to not having enough sex.' This is backed up by the results, given there is nearly a 50% drop off in both sexes when you look at the number of single people masturbating daily compared to those in a relationship.
All in all, 14% of Irish people enjoy some alone time on a daily basis.
