The 22nd of May 2015, a pretty great day to be at home in Ireland and hopefully a majorly significant one. With positivity and togetherness sweeping the country like a flood and with an invading force of emigrants returning home to make this country a better more inclusive place, it's difficult to believe that Ireland has taken so long to make this decision, that it was even a decision.
But today in Fairview in Dublin's North Inner City, there is a stark reminder of what it was like, and in a sense how far we have come. Declan Flynn was killed in Fairview Park in 1983, for the crime of being gay. That incident provoked outrage and a movement here in Ireland and that is not being forgotten today.
