The Pope was on fire on twitter today, bashing out quotes from his stirring encyclical 'Laudato Si' in which he laments the manner in which the global market economy is destroying the environment.
The Pope has a broad audience in mind for his encyclical, namely, 'every person living on this planet'.
He argued that the pursuit of financial gain and 'whatever is fragile, like the environment, is defenseless before the interests of the deified market, which become the only rule.'
One particular tweet rather succinctly expressed the Pope feelings on the state of the planet. This Pope is unafraid of the demotic.
The earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth.
